i have now said goodbye to my best friends from college. and to all of my deaux coworkers. tears started early at work on tuesday night...but definitely ended on a much more humorous note. i walked away looking and smelling horrible!! follow this link to get a better idea of what i mean. this is a little more. Hopefully ya'll can view those...if not, i shall explain.
traditionally when people (that have worked there for a long time) leave Pappadeaux, the staff gangs up on that person and soaks them in disgusting food items. last night, after finishing up my last table...i was walking to the back to check out with my headwait...when i was ambushed. they first picked me up and tossed me(let me add not very gently. bruises on my back prove it.) into a big rolling cart. i was then covered in water, then silly string. next comes the olive juice, the marinara sauce, some delicious pork and beans, doused in a bucket full of flour, topped off with some raspberry syrup. all i could do was sit and take it. i should've hugged everyone after, but i was nice. they literally had to hose me off in the back where we keep the big dumpsters. quite a show!
to top it off, when i walked out to my car (in dry and new clothes, thank goodness) someone had window chalked my car. the front said 'bride to be,' the back said 'it's a girl,' and the side said, 'congratulations graduate of 2010.' hahaha! just to clarify...i am NONE of these. needless to say, it was an eventful last night at my job of nearly four years. i will miss those people so much!
tomorrow--i start, yes start, packing up everything!!! it hasn't quite hit me that i'm not coming back after a week. that i won't be driving down I-35 screaming at traffic during all times of the day. i'm very excited for the move, but i'm nervous of the moment when it hits me i'm not in austin anymore. thank god for the excuse of texas football to get me back down here at some point. nothing compares to a UT tailgate on saturday gameday! which reminds me of how excited i am to visit our university co-op. they sell UT EVERYTHING! when lil' mama gets down here...we are going and stocking up on some texas gear. must represent in kansas!!
anywho---operation: goodbye austin is almost complete. tomorrow i will tell ya'll about the fun roadtrip lil' mama and i have ahead of us. a few stops are a MUST!
tata for now!
